The group of Asiatic tiger lilies can be subdivided into through seed propagated wild lilies and hybridized lilies that originated from crosses between wild Asiatic lilies. The Asiatic tiger lily is characterized by speckled flowers with curling petals. All Asiatic lilies are sturdy lilies that grow easily, suitable for perennial planting. They are characterized by a very wide colour range with many hard, clear colours. They bloom from mid to late summer. Their flowering height is 80-140 cm. They generally give a large number of flowers. This type of lily does not smell. These lilies can also be planted in pots or planters. * Asiatic tiger lilies are the first lilies obtained from nature, around the year 1900, and later on from crosses between wild lily species originating from Asia.
Asiatic Tiger lilies cultivation • Ensure a sufficiently deep plant bed. Maintains a planting depth of 8 cm plus the height of the bulb. (or +/- 15 cm) • In the spring, deposit 15 cm deep with each lily a free supplied capsule with organic herbal which prevents harmful leaf insects. • All lilies can also be planted in pots or trays, from which excess water can run out, with a minimum layer of 15 cm of potting soil at the bottom. • When planting, ensure that the lily bulbs are covered with a good layer of moisture and air permeable potting soil. • Ensure that the lilies can dispose of sufficient water immediately after planting. • Keep the plant bed free of weeds after planting. • Plant Tagetes next to the lilies, which attract insects that fight aphids. • Plant lavender next to the lilies, the strong scent repels harmful insects. • Remove the dead crop after flowering to prevent mold. • If You are planning a perennial planting, it is advisable to apply a layer quality compost and a little cow manure every year after the crop has been removed (eventual in the form of dried cow manure pellets).
